So, if you’ve been hiding in a cave for the last decade you might not know that marijuana has become widely decriminalized. You might think it’s bad, but proponents have a good argument for the drug. Whether you believe it has medicinal properties or not, one can’t argue that its legal use is any more dangerous than alcohol.
THC is the main chemical in marijuana plants, and with the addition of many other chemicals, you have a plant that when smoked can ease the symptoms of many ailments. There are no known cases of people overdosing from smoking pot. There may be a record of it somewhere on the web, but I dare you to ask a medical doctor to produce a case study that proves it, they can’t. If you look at the cases of alcohol causing deaths in car accidents the numbers are staggering, yet this is completely legal.
To date, 4 states and the District of Columbia have legalized pot for recreational use. Many of these laws allow for personal cultivation as well. This is in addition to the many states that have a medical control on the drug and allow patients to use it. It has been noted to help chronic illness, but what if you don’t have an illness?
Millennials have taken their voting power and turned it into a smoke out for their rights. They’re the biggest generation and many are now becoming of age to vote. Why would they have it any other way? Older generations have joined the cause and many high profile political figures have jumped on the wagon. If the votes in favor of the bills reach critical mass recreational use isn’t far behind, and it’s already on the ballots. If you want to legalize it, go out to the presidential election and vote!
